ARBA Golden Gate Classic, Hayward, CA 19/20 June 2004

Showtime again
It was time for another great big event in the world of US Danish/Swedish Farm Dogs, and here are yet some pictures worth sharing.
Again we had more dogs showing for the same owners and everybody pitched in and helped each other at ring-side, holding dogs, and also in the ring by showing each other's dogs when needed.
We really do have a nice group and a good friendship along with of course some wonderful dogs. Thanks for all the help
9 Danish/Swedish Farm Dogs made it to this event, the most ever gathered in one place in The US. The dogs were:
Maddy, Kikka, Bailey, Flora, Hannah, Vago, Solo, Tilly and Annika. Thanks to all who showed up and made it yet another unforgetable weekend.

Vago won the companion group in the first show (way to go Brita) but didn't place in Best of Show. He did however harvest loud applaudes within the FD group when he walked the Best of Show ring, nice job!
Second third and fourth show Vago placed just like that in the group, 2, 3 and 4.

farmdog Camp
The Danish/Swedish Farm Dog camp
3 easy-ups in L-shape, 2 for the dogs' playpen and one for the people and the snacks, shaped our camp. We were right in front of the center show ring, quite a visible crowd.

"The ongoing Farm Dog Play"
This time we divided the play pens into 2, a large one and a smaller one. In the large pen lots of things were going on all the time and of course more people needed to get in and out of it than in the smaller pen.
Result was that 3 FD's made a quick escape at an unattended moment. We are however all very proud of the fact that even though they were certainly on the run for some fun, they all made a nice loop AROUND the show ring, they knew to stay out of there of course, smart as they are.
The FD group did provide some good entertainment, not just in the escapee-event, but also when all of us were done showing Sunday. The FDs were let loose on a nearby field and we displayed their skill in freesbee and ball-catching, what a blast!
Well, I guess we should mention that we also did have some display of hunting skills, as it turned out that the field was loaded with gophers...Maddy, Kikka, Flora and Hannah did not miss their call on that one, in fact Maddy got a ball of fur in her mouth from a gopher who got away (his very lucky day), adding to the excitement. If anybody meets a somewhat balled gopher in Hayward, CA, it's Maddy's.
Mel catered lunch to us both days, and even though I (Helene) really liked the oriental chicken salad, it could never hold a candle to the Danish Lunch in my book. Thanks so much Mel.

Lunch
Lunch on day one
We didn't miss a thing, not even a table cloth. When the US Farm Dog group camp, they do it in style.

Extra's
There was no CGC offered at this show, but Solo did obtain his ARBACH title on Sunday, congratulations to Deb.

Vago group winner
Vago, our group winner
Vago took the companion group, but unfortunately he didn't place in Best of Show. It was however very nice to see the FDs represented in the Best Of Show competition.
