Kikka and puppies (week 1b, 2006)

In this first week, we lost 2 of Kikka's puppies. It is our hope, that Kikka will get to keep the last 2, which at this time both seem to be going strong.
We will keep posting pictures and up-dates of Kikka and the puppies, to maintain our tradition of week-by-week stories and pictures for all the Farmdog people following our puppies.
Please be adviced, that we might take a few days on responding to e-mails from friends and family.

Kikka and her pups
This week has been very stressful for Kikka, because she has had 2 sick puppies, and lost both of them. At the end of week 1, she is finally able to get some real rest.
Kikka enjoys being a Mama-dog, and doesn't leave her puppies for more than a few minutes at a time, to go outside and do her business. She prefers to be hand fed, while sitting in the box with her pups, after all, she is the center of attention, spoiled rotten, and figures that this is to be expected as a minimum of room service.
The 2 remaining puppies have both more than doubled their birth weights, and of course there is a wealth of food available to them. They have been steady at it all week, and we hope they are strong to sustain.
In just a few days, we are expecting them to open their eyes, and look out at the world around them.

For now the puppies remaining are #2 and #3. We do have names selected for them, but will not reveal those until Butch comes home, as usual.
The 2 puppies and Kikka are still in the small box, which is still plenty big for them and very cozy. The most important activites are sleep, eat, sleep, eat and sleep eat.
