week 7
Finally the weather started working with us. The energy level is now so high and consistent, that inside is way too small for even just 2 puppies.
In the beginning of the week, the days were still cool, but in the afternoon sun, the deck was a dear expansion of the space, and later in the week, we could finally frequent the back yard several times a day again.

Please be adviced, that we might take a few days on responding to e-mails from friends and family.
We thank You for Your patience.
We do currently not respond to new puppy inquiries.

Kikka and puppies
Kikka very obviously loves to be a Mother. She spends most of the day with her puppies, she still cleans them, feeds them, hangs out with them, cuddles with them, and last, but not least, she participates in all their games and play.
It is clear, that she is bringing them up, she is the referee when they fight, and interferes and puts them on "time-out" if need be. Should one get out of hand, she firmly corrects the mis-behavior, and won't let off, until the puppy surrenders and give in.
The puppies are being very brave with their Mother, and test their skills and strength on her, and when she lets them win, they can get really wound up...that's when Mama's firm paw will remind them, that they are still only puppies, and she's the boss-dog.
Calamity Jane is always happy, free spirited, and does get excited and wound up in play, and certainly holds her own. Yet on the other hand, she is the calmer of the 2, the one who eats the most and sleeps the most. Nothing really scares her, she seems to take the world with the utmost calm and "cool" attitude. Maddy likes the fact, that Calamity Jane does not opt for lead dog towards her, and allows Calamity to be near her more frequent, than she does with Annie Oakley. Calamity Jane is a snuggle dog, and loves all human attention.
Annie Oakley is also always happy. She is the "wild one" of the 2, always with a glimse in her eye, never misses a thing in life. She can go on "over-time", and experience an entire life it seems, while her Sister naps. Nothing scares her, she's a "big dog" in her own mind, and her curiousity and confidence gets her in trouble, especially has she "bumped heads" with Maddy, who is perfectly aware of this little growing alpha dog. Annie Oakley is a snuggle dog, and she too loves human attention.
Both girls like very rough games, both with Kikka, but also with a human. They are extremely solid mentally. Both girls have learned "sit", and are now working on "down".

Both on deck
The warm afternoon sun feels good to get out in
And immediately they were both checking out the "fence line"...wanting to know more about what's outside.

Maddy and puppies
Maddy is having some split feelings going. On one hand, she wants to participate in the fun, on the other hand, she is very serious about keeping her dignity, and making her point clear, that she is the leader of her pack, and puppies don't "count".
But she can only maintain for so long. At times, when we and Kikka have been looking away, we have caught her sneak a minute of play with them, here and there.
When the puppies settle down and are sleeping, she seems to like to place herself near them, her pride sort of keeps her from snuggling, and she turns her back on them...but with several other choices of places to sleep around the house, it's hard for her to hide her care, when she chooses to be only inches from them.

Pooped out

Even though they do seem to be on duracell during the day, they come to this point every evening...pew, quiet!

Kikka snuggles along
Mama dog Kikka sleeps with her girls
She stays close to them all day long
