3 weeks old lots happening
This week the puppies got on their feet, and started to see better. As soon as this happens, the learning begins!
Just a few days after the puppies were 2 weeks old, they started showing interest in the smell of Kikka's food. first attempt serving some "puppy mush" was rather successful, the puppies just dived into it and started eating right away.
The first few days the food was introduced for fun to them just a couple of times a day, but from now on, they are being fed puppy mush on a 4 times daily schedule.
The puppies also "graduated" into the big box this week, meaning the center divider was removed. That gives room for a piddle pad, and the very first steps towards house breaking have been taken.
By instinct the puppies will crawl away from the area where they sleep to do their business, and the piddle pad being there re-enforces this instinct and helps eventually shape a behavior.
So far we have seen all the puppies use the piddle pad, sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't.

I am sorry that their individual pictures this week are not all that great...these 5 are like a sack of fleas, moving all the time, and it took 20-30 pictues of each of them, just to get these...we'll try to do better next week!

Please be adviced, that we might take a few days on responding to e-mails from friends and family.
We thank You for Your patience.
We do currently not respond to new puppy inquiries.

PLAY!
This was the head line for Kikka's litter 2 years ago, at the very same age. And nothing has changed in this department. The puppies are all playing anytime they are not eating or sleeping.
They play in particular with each other, with Kikka, with whatever toys we give them, and they play with our fingers and hands. They practice all their moving abilities and attack behaviors...it's still so-so to get the balance to keep up with what the head wants to do, but it gets better and better every day!

First mush meal
First mush meal
All 5 dived right into the puppy mush and started eating. This gives a whole new meaning to the term "wearing it"...

Family union.
The slow introduction of Maddy also started this week. The rules are always the same, first "look but no touch" and once both Maddy and Kikka have that down and especially Kikka is comfortable with that, the x-pen separating the puppy area and Maddy is removed in the day time
By then Maddy is allowed to be outside of the box, but not inside. Kikka sets the pace.
The puppies don't know the difference in the beginning and will walk up to the side of the box to check out anything out of curiousity. Maddy is giving them all the "adult dog language" she knows, wagging her tail, setting her ears low, crawling low to the floor, rolling over...every kind of body language manner of saying "come on over, I'm friendly and I won't hurt you".
The efforts are cute, but don't seem to matter, the puppies will walk up to her no matter what...who knows, maybe she has a milk bar too?!

Maddy did one time, as usual, take the liberty of jumping into the box, while Kikka had left...she was also busted on camera!

Maddy meets puppies
Maddy making herself little and un-threatening
There is no doubt these two boys want to meet her

Maddy meeting Daffy and Dudley Do-Right
Letting them check her over
She was very, very excited to meet them, but stood ever so still not to spook them
